Thank you so much for visiting our website. Our theme for 2014 is "Expanding our territory" and comes from the scripture verses in Joshua 1:1-9. This passage deals with a new
season in the life of the Israelites.
They are positioned to claim new territory in the Promised Land. Their past is behind them and God has
prepared them to venture into the promises that HE has already promised
them. God instructs them that HE is
going to give them this land and promises that HE will not leave them or
forsake them. As we relate this
scripture to our lives, what new territory is God asking you to claim this
year? As we seek direction from our Lord, we will see all of the areas that
need to be expanded. This can include
our personal lives (within our hearts) as well as ministry areas where the kingdom of God can be positively impacted. Don't allow your past disappointments and failures to prevent you from occupying new ground this year. Just remember, with the exception of Joshua and Caleb, the ones who crossed over the Jordan into the promised land were born in the wilderness! Let's put our wilderness experiences behind us and boldly enter into the promises of God.
The second aspect of expanding our territory deals with
aligning/connecting ourselves with other people in order to help advance the kingdom of God. There were a few tribes that remained on the east side of the Jordan. Even though they had received their land, Joshua told the men of those tribes that they had to go over the Jordan river and help the others fight until they received their land and rest and then they could return to their territory. I believe now, more than ever, we need to be connecting with other members of the body of Christ in order that everyone's territory can be expanded. Our combined focus needs to be on building up God's kingdom!
Expanding our territory is going to require us getting out of our comfort zones. Even though this is sometimes challenging, God declares three times in our scripture passage and four times in the entire 1st chapter of Joshua for us to "be strong and of good courage"!
Please take a look around at the various ministries that are provided and I believe that you will find many opportunities for you and your family. Jill and I look forward to personally meeting you at one of our Sunday morning or Wednesday evening services.
I pray that you will be blessed in 2014 as you expand your territory!
In Christ's Love,
Pastor Robbie Mathis
